Harmonious, Earth-based living – find the seeds on the website of Navdanya, the organisation of Vandana Shiva, a female warrior who uses her strong words to promote an Earth Centric, Women centric and Farmer led movement.
Auroville is one of those places on Earth where living in Divine unity is being brought to practice. “Auroville wants to be a universal town where men and women of all countries are able to live in peace and progressive harmony above all creeds, all politics and all nationalities. Permaculture observes nature and applies nature’s principles in human life, in the domains of personal, communal and global aspects of gardening, community, economy and so on. My personal perspective is that of tending to Healing Gardens, but it’s a vast subject, aiming to live with Nature instead of against her. To learn more, you could start here.
Another example of communal living is Findhorn. It started as a group of friends, co-creating with the nature spirits a garden of miraculous abundance. “From tiny band of spiritual seekers to a world centre of transformation.” Read on here.

“I have this vision, but how do I get from here to there – I don’t see the bridge?!”
And now I understand – we came here to build that bridge.
As ‘dessert’ I’m describing my vision in short, and inviting you to do the same! Is your vision very different? Welcome! Is it almost the same? Welcome! All visions are welcome in the Desserts! Send your vision and I’ll place it. If you’re OK with me linking your email adress with your name (so that others can contact you to brainstorm further), do say so. If there’s no explicit consent for linking your email with your name, I will not do so.
My vision: Small, sovereign communities – ‘villages’ where the relationships are based on respect for each other and reciprocity. Small homesteads exchanging produce, goods, animals and skills with each other. Generations mingling, learning from each other. Communal festivities to mark seasons and important events within the community.
